Have you ever considered advertising your practice on Facebook? When done properly, Facebook ads can be an effective tool for generating new dental patients.

But what's the secret to creating successful ads? Our in-house Facebook Ads team shares the recipe for success…

#1 – Advertise a promotion or special offer

Social media ads are considered interruption marketing. This means the Facebook users you're targeting are not actively searching for your services, you're interrupting their news feed with your ad. Therefore, your dental ad needs to stand out and catch their attention. That's why the most successful Facebook ads for dentists are those promoting a special offer – new patient special, Invisalign offer, teeth whitening deal, etc. It gives the user a reason to stop scrolling and take notice.

#2 – Eye-catching image and text

Want to break through the noise of the Facebook feed and have people take notice of your ad? Then you need a high-quality image or graphic along with ad copy that speaks to your audience. A blurry photo and some basic text isn't going to work.

#3 – Specific audience targeting

While you can decide to just show your ad to everyone who lives within a certain distance of your practice, you'll find more success when you narrow that audience down to those most likely to act on your offer.

For instance, if you're a pediatric dentist, you can choose to show your new patient special only to parents. You can get even more specific and run an Invisalign ad to parents of pre-teens. Want to attract more patients who need dentures? Show your ad to an older demographic in an affluent area.

Define your audience and you won't be wasting money showing your ad to people who aren't a good fit for your offer.

#4 – Use Facebook's lead gen ads

Lead gen ads are pre-populated forms that allow users to submit their information to claim an offer without ever leaving Facebook. This provides a more seamless experience for the user as than sending them to a landing page.

When someone completes the lead form, you get an email with their information so you can reach out to the lead to book their appointment. You can also add the email addresses you collect to your email list and send them marketing emails in the future.

There are a few reasons these lead gen ads are more effective than sending leads to a landing page on your website:

  • Facebook users don't like to be taken off Facebook to another website and tend to bounce back to Facebook without reading a landing page.
  • The Facebook algorithm prefers their native lead gen form ads and shows them more often.
  • It's less work for the lead because the form is pre-filled with the contact information Facebook already has for them. The easier it is for a prospective patient to claim an offer, the more likely they are to do it!
